It is good to know some of the inner-working bathroom faucets before you begin your selection.
* Compression using a washing machine and a compression faucet to turn off water flow. This faucet has been around for a long time, most of us have used them, and they are still available and typically among the most expensive model. Compression faucet has two handles to control hot and cold water pressure and temperature and require tightening handle to close the water flow. Inside the handle is an assembly with a washer at the end of the screw. When you tighten the handle bathroom faucet that creates pressure on the washer above the opening and stop the flow of water. This faucet has a long history of requiring regular maintenance, usually replacing the washer.
* Ball valves are common in kitchens and bathrooms, has a single handle to control water flow, and temperature as well. This type of faucet is the first to washerless. Unfortunately this is a complicated mechanism and also the most subject to leaking.

They are more reliable than compression faucets, and require less frequent repairs.
